Tongsheng TSDZ2 vs Bafang BBS02

The Bafang BBS02B has a low gear ratio of 20, which causes a low motor-efficiency. That is why the Bafang BBS02 was not interesting for me, and I did not initially include it in the comparison.
Later, in 2014, the Tongsheng TSDZ2 was released, and this is a much better alternative to the Bafang BBS02B.

Read this article from Tony from eBike Choices where he compares both mid-drive motors.

The big advantage of the Tongsheng TSDZ2 and the Bafang BBS02, is that all parts are available, in contrast to Yamaha and Shimano which are hardly repairable.

Main advantages of the Tongsheng TSDZ2 compared to the Bafang BBS02B

  • Larger gear ratio 41 vs 20
  • Lighter pedaling without motor support
